PARISH PRIEST ROBBED AT GUN POINT IN CHURCH WHILE PRAYING (TRINIDAD)

Father Clyde Harvey robbed at gunpoint…in Church

Roman Catholic (RC) priest Father Clyde Harvey was robbed as he prayed at the Holy Rosary/St. Martin’s, East Port of-Spain, on Monday.

Harvey is parish priest at the church and was in the chapel when two men entered at around 6a.m.

Police confirmed that Harvey was robbed by the men at gunpoint. But officers refused to give details on the incident.

Officers from the Belmont police station responded and were at the scene up to 9am.

Harvey served previously as chaplain at the University of the West Indies and parish priest in Laventille/Morvant, Maloney Gardens, San Fernando.

He is actively involved in social and community programmes and has been working with youths to rid criminal activity in the country.

Harvey is chairman of three non-Government organisations – Community Intervention for Transformation and Empowerment, South AIDS Support and the Morris Marshall Development Foundation.

He was awarded the Humming Bird Medal Gold for Religion and Community Service in 2011.

But Harvey was not too enthused about writing HBM after his name. Instead his personal letterhead carries the exclamation, Human Beings Matter.
