KINGSTON, Jamaica – The vendor who was today shot dead in downtown Kingston has been identified.

He is 48 year old Osbourne Grant of a St Thomas address.

The body of the vendor was found with gunshot wounds in the vicinity of Orange Street and Chancery Lane, Kingston.

People doing business in the area said that approximately 2:00pm they heard loud explosions and went to investigate.

Meanwhile the police remain tight-lipped about how Grant met his death but people Downtown Kingston allege he was shot and killed by a member of the security force.

“A police kill the man, the plainclothes police a run down a man who rob a chain, during the chase the police opened fire and the vendor get shot,” a man claiming to be an eyewitness said.

A senior member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force who was on the scene said the matter is being investigated.
