DRIVE BY SHOOTING ON WASHINGTON BLD

The St. Andrew South Police are searching for suspects in connection with Friday morning’s drive-by shooting at a traffic light on Washingston Boulevard in St Andrew.

Three men were shot during the attack which occurred shortly after midnight.

It was reported that motorists were at the traffic light at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Cooreville Gardens when men travelling a car drove up and opened gunfire on passengers in one of the vehicles.

Two of the passengers were shot.

Another motorist was also wounded.

The gunmen sped off.

Radio Jamaica News has been informed that two of the victims are from Rousseau Road in St. Andrew and investigators say they were trailed from their community, which is now embroiled in a gang fuel with men from neighboring Maxfield Avenue.

Investigators believe the attack stemmed from the conflict.

Dr. Angela Brown Burke, Member of Parliament for St. Andrew South West, wants increased police presence in the area to quell the violence.

Several persons have been shot over the last two days in the Maxfield Avenue area.

Dr. Brown Burke said several persons have fled the community out of fear.
