Emmy-nominated actor Meshach Taylor, best known for his role in the hit sitcom Designing Women, died Saturday night, according to the Los Angeles Times and CNN. He was 67.
Taylor was in hospice care at his family’s home in Altadena, reported the Times. He was surrounded by his wife, children and mother when he died at 10:47 p.m., his son Tariq Taylor and agent Dede Binder said.
Meshach Taylor was best known for his role as Anthony Bouvier, the assistant to the four main female characters on Designing Women. He also played flamboyant window dresser Hollywood Montrose in the 1987 movie Mannequin.
Taylor had fought a terminal illness and faded markedly in recent days, CNN reported.
“It is with love and gratitude that we sorrowfully announce that our darling, amazingly brilliant and dynamic, Meshach, the incredible father, husband, son and friend has begun his grand transition,” the family said in a post on Facebook on June 27.

  1. I always liked him. He died surrounded by his loving family and that is the best exit anybody can make. RIP Meshach!
