FORMER ST THOMAS COUNCILLOR CHARGED WITH STATUTORY MISCONDUCT AND TRIED TO FLEE

Deverell Dwyer, former councillor for the Cedar Valley division in St. Thomas, who was charged with sexual misconduct involving a minor, was again denied bail when he appeared in court Tuesday.

His attorney, Hensley Williams, told the court that his client is suffering from a medical condition and is not fit to remain in custody.

However, the prosecution opposed bail stating that Mr. Dwyer is a flight risk.

The former councillor is to return to court on February 13.

Mr. Dwyer and a former policeman, who is also implicated in the case, reportedly left the island in 2017.

Mr. Dwyer was held at Norman Manley International Airport when he returned to the island on January 26.

Radio Jamaica News was informed that the former councillor and the policeman were said to be involved with the minor, who became pregnant.

  1. So I take it that ur client wasn’t suffering from a medical condition when he was raping n impregnating the minor girl!!??All I know if it was anyone I know who got raped by those two demonic animals, they both would have a FATAL medical condition enuh!!!

It’s a waste of taxpayers’ money to imprison rapists and abusers, hang dem by dem balls at high noon and use the money saved to fund breakfast n lunch programs in basic n primary schools.
