TAXI DRIVER WHO ABDUCTED CHILDREN SENTENCED

A taxi operator is to spend eleven years in prison at hard labour for offences committed against two children.

Forty-three year old Glenville Riley of Shaw Park in Ocho Rios, St. Ann was sentenced on Friday to 22 years imprisonment after pleading guilty to charges of forcible abduction, abduction and indecent assault.

The sentences are to run concurrently, so he will serve 11 years.

The incidents occurred between December 2017 and August 2018.

The first child was abducted and taken to a location where she was assaulted.

A report was made to the police and Riley was arrested and later charged.

He committed the second act while on bail.

The child was abducted, but was able to escape with the help of a relative.

It was reported that Riley lured the child into his car but her relative was able to pull her from the moving vehicle.

Riley was again arrested and charged.

He received a fifty per cent discount for his guilty plea.
