Jamaican security guard hacked Trinidadian wife to death

Jamaican Adrian Byfield has appeared in court charged with the murder of his wife, Rachael Logan.

Byfield, 49, a security guard, stood before Siparia Senior Magistrate Margaret Alert who read the charge that between February 20 and 22, he murdered Logan at Quarry Road, Quarry Village, Siparia.

The body of 46-year-old Logan was found in a bedroom of her home by her sons, ages 10 and 27, on February 21. The mother of four was chopped to death.

Byfield was reportedly found by hiding in bushes with a rope and a cutlass at his feet and was subsequently arrested. He was charged by PC Bernard on the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Prosecutor Sgt Starr Jacob told the court a partial file has been sent to the DPP but there are about 25 to 30 statements. She said the entire file should be at the DPP’s office in about three months.

The magistrate explained to Byfield that a preliminary inquiry will be held and then a determination will be made on whether there is enough evidence for him to be committed to stand trial in the High Court. The matter was adjourned to March 27.

  1. I wonder if he’s related to the Jamaican international designer Carmichael Byfield, does anyone knows of this or thier relations ties as family?

  2. My heart goes out to her sons, especially the ten year old, he will need serious therapy. To see your mother’s lifeless body hacked to death is a great traumatic experience for any child to have to carry. May they find healing.
