People’s National Party Councillor for the Salt Spring Division, Sylvan Reid, has been positively identified as the man leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in the death of 14-year-old Cornwall College student, Jouvhaine Whitmore, last year.‎
The PNP councillor, who has just won an internal election to represent his party in the next Local Government election, was pointed out during an ID parade at the Montego Freeport Police Station this afternoon.

A‎ highly-placed police source says a file on the matter is to be sent to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution to make a decision in the case.‎

Jouvhaine, the son of former Reggae Boyz coach, Theodore ‘Tappa’ Whitmore, was hit while riding his bicycle on the Granville/Tucker main road near his home last November.‎

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.
Reid, who owned the SUV, reported the vehicle stolen two hours after the accident.‎
