She was not among the acts billed to hit the stage at Saturday night’s staging of Shaggy and Friends but Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller drew large cheers when she ran on to the huge platform on the lawns of Jamaica House.
Comedians Ity and Fancy Cat were making light of the Steve Harvey Miss Universe blunder and enacting a similar gaffe in announcing the results of the 2016 Jamaican election results when Simpson Miller surprised them.
The comedians who were near the end of the set aptly introduced Simpson Miller as Jamaica’s Prime Minister while Simpson Miller blew kisses to the cheering audience.
Earlier, Billboard hot number OMI delivered his first performance on home soil since his Billboard success.
OMI sang songs such as Hoola Hoop and his breakout hit Cheerleader.
Meanwhile, two scheduled acts, Nelly and Inner Circle did not grace the stage tonight because of unforeseen issues.
Perfect place for her. We all know the Jamaican Healthcare System is a joke and she’s our top comedienne.
