The US Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump has made it to the 2016 list of Nobel Peace Prize aspirants.
The nomination comes after he attracted international condemnation on the statement he made on banning the entry of Muslims in US, his infamous comment on Mexican immigrants and the plan to build a wall between US and Mexico.
According to Nobel watcher Kristian Berg Harpviken , the director of the Peace Research Institute of Oslo, a copy of the nomination letter that he received stated that Trumps deserves the prize for ” “his vigorous peace through strength ideology, used as a threat weapon of deterrence against radical Islam, ISIS, nuclear Iran and Communist China”
But, do not fret! reports state that, the Nobel institutes receives nominations from thousands of people from around the world. They include government officials, former laureates and university professors. So, a persons name on the list is not a guaranteed sign of approval.
The panelists are also allowed to put forward their own nominations before their first meeting, which is scheduled by the end of this month.
The names of the nominees are usually kept as a secret, but people who nominate them can disclose the name of the person they have proposed.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel
Greek Islanders helping migrants
Kristian Berg Harpviken, is of the view that Edward Snowden stands a chance to win this year. In his opinion, Snowden’s leak led to a number of good reform in the US .
Congolese gynaecologist Denis Mukwege who treated thousands of women who were raped and brutalised in the Democratic republic of Congo.
Nadia Murad, a Yazidi abducted by ISIS fighters in August 2014 from her village in Iraq and held for three months as a sex slave is also in the running.
The Afghan Cycling Federation women’s team has been nominated by Italian MP’s.
And of course, Donald Trump
