HOW TO OVERCOME TEMPTATION-GOOD MORNING

HOW TO OVERCOME TEMPTATION

But he answered and said it is written…” Matthew 4:4

Satan said to Jesus “If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread” so that You will eat, after all You are hungry. Note that the enemy will always try and tempt you around the areas of your pressing needs. But Jesus answered and said: “It is written…” In other words, Satan, ever before you showed up, My Father had already spoken. My Father knew that somewhere along the line you are going to show up to try to make Me disobey Him, but I want to let you know that I am standing on the infallibility of the word of God.

“It is written “Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4 KJV). The fact that Jesus quoted this scripture was an indication that He did not only know it, He was already established in that very word before the temptation came. Don’t wait to read or study the scripture when the temptation comes, at that point it is almost too late, rather, prepare ahead of time by reading and meditating daily on the word of God. This scripture Jesus quoted is found in Deuteronomy 8:3. So Jesus only quoted what he already knew.

Beloved, the word is given to prepare and equip the child of God for victory. 1 Timothy 3:16-17 says “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” Jesus could overcome temptation because he was established in the word. He was firmly established in it; so when the devil came, it was natural for Him to know what to do. In other words, this is what the word has told me ever before you came and it is only the word that will be established forever. Therefore as a believer, that desires to overcome temptation and walk in perpetual victory, becoming established in the word is crucial.
