An alleged obeah man who report-edly rented his car to gunmen to use was arrested by police following a shoot-out at his home on Waterloo Villa, Sligoville, St Catherine, yesterday.
An M-16 rifle and a 9mm pistol, a book containing the names of several wanted men and their ‘prescription’ for oils and tablets to prevent them from been captured, were seized in the incident, police said.
Information reaching THE WEEKEND STAR is that a joint police/military operation was conducted at a house believed to be that of the obeah man. Police said several men who were in the yard engaged the lawmen in a gunbattle during which three were shot and the others escaped.
The injured men later died. Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations. The matter has been reported to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
The police said the operation was one of many being conducted by the St Catherine North and South police to capture people believed to be involved in several crimes committed in the last two weeks, across the two police divisions.
