Manhunt underway to recapture escapees from Falmouth lock-up
A manhunt is underway to recapture four detainees who escaped from Falmouth police lock-up in Trelawny on Wednesday night.
The jailbreak occurred about 10:10 p.m.
The escapees are 24 year old Mario Morrison, 31 year old Oneil Demetrius, otherwise called “Boy Boy”, 22 year old Travaun Lawson, otherwise called “Tall Man”, and 39 year old Adrian Stewart.
They are charged with various offences including murder, shooting with intent and simple larceny.
The men escaped after cutting their way through a vent in their cell which held five persons.
Speaking at a media briefing at the Falmouth Police Station Thursday morning, Superintendent Dwight Powell, head of the Trelawny Police, appealed to members of the public to contact the police if they have information on the whereabouts of the men.
The incident is being investigated by the Inspectorate of Constabulary.
The police officers who were on duty at the time of the escape have been removed from frontline duty.
Superintendent Powell said the tools used by the detainees were not found.
He said additional security measures have been put in place.
