ANOTHER LOTTERY SCAM SUSPECTED

A woman has been arrested in connection with the seizure of Jamaican and U.S dollars during an operation targeting persons involved in the lottery scam and other illicit activities in St. James.

The seizure took place at a house in Bottom Pen on Tuesday.

More than J$1.4 million and more than US$8,400 in cash were seized.

Major Basil Jarrett, Media Affairs Officer of the Jamaica Defence Force, said the security forces were conducting operations in communities across Montego Bay when the house was searched.

The money was found between pages of several books and in a cupboard.

The woman could not give a satisfactory explanation for how she obtained the money.

Two cell phones and a tablet computer were also seized.

She was taken to the Freeport Police Station for further questioning.
