Phillip Paulwell, Leader of Opposition Business, has announced the intent of Portia Simpson Miller and Dr. Omar Davies to to resign on June 29.
At the request of the former prime minister and MP for South West St. Andrew as well as the MP for St. Andrew Southern, Mr. Paulwell announced today that they will both submit letters of intent to resign to the Speaker of the House.
Mrs. Simpson Miller and Dr. Omar Davies will officially resign on June 29, 2017 when their letters of resignation will be handed to the House Speaker.
In accordance with Jamaica’s laws, such resignations once handed to the Speaker become immediately effective, hence today’s letters are letters of intent and not resignations.
