THE PROPRIETOR of an Arouca Chinese restaurant who was robbed by two armed men said yesterday a lot of other Chinese businessmen were frustrated over the country’s crime situation and were packing up and leaving.
“I get a lot of hell, and we are not accustomed to dealing with this kind of bacchanal,” he said, asking not to be named.
The men, armed with guns, entered the Kam Wong restaurant, located along the Eastern Main Road, Arouca, near Lopinot Junction, around 7.43 p.m. on Thursday.
Early yesterday morning, three videos of the robbery began circulating via social media, which showed the two men clearly wielding guns as they entered the premises. One of them was wearing a white vest, red three-quarter pants and a black cap, and the other a blue striped polo shirt, blue three-quarter pants and a blue cap.
One of these videos also showed the faces of the two men as they left the premises.
Police said the gunmen slapped and pushed customers as they stole their money, cellphones and a woman’s pink handbag.
The workers in the restaurant were also seen handing over cash, following which they ducked behind the counter.

That is very true, there are Jamaican Chinese citizens with family lines hundreds of years deep in the country. Folks must make clear distintion in their statements. I do not know any Jamaican who have any gripe with our original Chinese population who are a part of our cultural fabric and equally Jamaican like any other person. The new Chinese who are simply transient economc refugees who intend to use the Jamaican ppl to enhance their pockets and move on to their next opportunity when they have achieved their ends are who these ppl are talking about. They normally neither speak patois nor good English, despise the local population, and do not put any money into Jamaica, all their money is stored in their original place where they intend to move back to eventually.
