17YO HELPED TO STAB 24YO WOMAN TO DEATH (TRINIDAD)

Four men suspected in the murder of Kimberly Lewis, 24, and the attempted murder of a man, were held attempting to evade a police road block exercise along the North Coast Road, Maracas, at around at 10p.m. on Monday.

The suspects were in a Nissan Almera motor vehicle, with the headlights switched off., the police said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

On approaching the road block being carried out by officers of the Maracas Bay Police and Coastal Patrol, the vehicle veered off the road onto a track and the occupants alighted and sped off. The officers gave chase and two of the suspects were held along the Maracas Beach, while the other remaining suspects were later found hiding in the Maracas area, shortly after 3a.m today”.

Police said there was blood on one of the doors of the vehicle.

“Based information received at the time, the officers proceeded along the North Coast Road, where they saw a man suffering from stab wounds on the side of the roadway, in the vicinity of Tyrico Bay, attempting to flag down passing vehicles. The man took officers to a nearby wooden shack, where the victim, Kimberly Lewis, was found in a semi-conscious state suffering from stab wounds about the body”.

She was pronounced dead on arrival at the Port of Spain General Hospital.

The four suspects were identified as a 31-year-old man of Lower Santa Cruz; a 17-year-old of Paramin; a 26-year-old man of Maraval and a 25year-old man of Tyrico Beach.

They were held by Sgt. Sterlin Taylor, Cpl (Ag.) Ali, Cpl Rajkumar and others of the Maracas Bay Police Station.
