The two male students who allegedly assaulted a female teacher at the Camperdown High School in Kingston on Thursday have been suspended.

Teachers wore black on Friday in a silent protest that was triggered by the incident.

It is reported that the teacher was assaulted by two grade 10 students.

She was squeezed between a door and a grill and her hands wrung behind her as the students tried to get back a cellphone she had confiscated.

RJR News sources say the teacher was also threatened by one of the students.

The teacher was rescued by the school nurse.

According to Valentine Bailey, the school’s principal, the teacher is “fine”.

The school’s administration met on Friday with the teachers and parents of the students involved.

  1. Suspended? When a is assaulted by a student? They should have been expelled immediately. Like the USA, students have all the rights and the teacher is left holding the proverbial bag. I hope the teacher press charges for assault and take the matter out of the hands of the school system.

    1. CORRECTION “When a is assaulted by a student?”, SHOULD BE, When is it acceptable to suspend a student who assaults teacher?

  2. Wey expel a guh? Di teacher muss feel like shit. Any other student can feel like dem can assault har an get wey.

  3. Those juvenile delinquents..err aahm correction. .I mean the two students wrong wrong. ..simple.

  4. I don’t know what to say these students have no regard for their teacher, they need to be dealt with firmly. Make an example of them so no other student feel they can do this and get away with it.

  5. The students should have been expelled. When you suspend students in a case like this what message are you sending to the school body and faculty. The ministry need to investigate this one. UNACCEPTABLE!!!
