VERDICT FOR NINJAMAN’S CASE TO BE HEARD THIS WEEK

Prosecutors have started closing arguments at the murder trial of dancehall entertainer Desmond “Ninjaman” Ballentine, and his two co-accused.

The arguments began Monday afternoon after Ninjaman, his son Janiel Ballentine, and Dennis Clayton, who are charged jointly in the case, completed their unsworn statements.

The three men denied participating in the 2009 murder of Ricardo Johnson in Olympic Gardens, St. Andrew.

Prosecutors reported that Ninjaman was among four men who entered a yard and fatally shot Mr. Johnson.

The main prosecution witness, who testified that he escaped the attack, told the jury that the entertainer fired two rounds at him.

A verdict is expected later this week.
