Uchence Wilson Gang Trial | Wilson Begged Cops To Free Ex-Girlfriend, Tape Reveals

Reputed gang leader Uchence Wilson was yesterday heard in an audio recording pleading with police personnel for his then girlfriend, accused Shantol Gordon, to not face criminal charges, claiming that she had no knowledge of alleged criminal activities.

“Yuh done know Shantol no involve and nuh know nothing. Mi willing fi cooperate wid unno. Unnu cyaa just send her home to har pickney dem? Mi have a next place fi carry unnu and mi done show unnu a vibes already,” Wilson said on the tape.

The recording was played as the trial for Wilson and his 23 alleged cronies continued in the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston.

The audio recording was made with a cell phone on December 2, 2017 by a police corporal, who, along with Wilson and other police personnel, went to Clarendon where they apprehended accused Odeen ‘Brinks’ Smith.

In the recording, Wilson can also be heard asking Smith for “two ting”, which the police corporal yesterday testified was a reference to guns.

“Dem two ting deh weh di dawg lef wid yuh mi cum fah. Di man dem naah do yuh nutten, bredda. A mi di man send fi dem. Yuh hear?” Wilson said.

But Smith denied knowing about any firearms.

“”Mi nuh know weh yuh a talk bout,” he said.

Throughout the 30-minute audio recording, Smith maintained this position.

Two other recordings, one with a conversation between the police and the accused as they journeyed to the Corporate Area, and another of a telephone conversation between Smith and another cop, were also played.

The 24 alleged gang members, including four women and a policeman, are on trial for breaches of the Criminal Justice (Suppression of Criminal Organisations) Act 2014, commonly known as the anti-gang legislation, for crimes allegedly committed between 2015 and 2017.

They are also being tried for breaches of the Firearms Act.
