TWO CHILDREN DEAD IN PLACE OF SAFETY FIRE

Two young girls have been confirmed dead following a fire at the Walker Place of Safety on Lyndhurst Crescent in St. Andrew Monday night.

They were both wards of the state.

Other children at the facility have been accounted for and are safe.

Five units battled the blaze which started shortly before 11 o’clock at the privately run home.

It has not been ascertained how it started.

The 34 children were initially placed at a nearby church, but Floyd Green, Minister of State with responsibility for Youth, told RJR News that they would shortly be relocated to a government run home.

The cause of the blaze is still being investigated.
