SUH PEOPLE GO COURT GO DEFEND DI COKE DEM AFTER DI WHOLE A DEM KILL JUS ONE MAN?

The Police High Command has ordered that a series of risk assessments be conducted to ensure that measures are implemented to ensure greater levels of security during high-profile criminal cases before the courts.

The move comes after an incident on Wednesday during which Tivoli Gardens’ reputed area leader, Leighton ‘Livity’ Coke, and six other accused persons mainly from West Kingston, who are all charged with murder, appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.

Reports are that authorities were forced to revise security provisions around the precincts of the court after persons calling themselves supporters of the accused persons, gathered close to the facility and issued several threats, triggering security concerns.

Assistant Superintendent, Dahlia Garrick, who heads of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s (JCF) Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), said the decision to increase security was made after supporters of Coke made “comments that warranted further attention of the security forces”.

The seven accused were attending court for a bail hearing.

A decision on the bail application is to be handed down on June 29.
