SEARCH TEAM FOR NICKETA THOMAS

RELATIVES and friends of missing party photographer Nicketa ‘Nick’ Thomas yesterday combed several sections of Cassia Park in St Andrew in search for their loved one, who has not been seen for a week now.

The 37-year-old photographer was last seen in the company of cousin Dwight Brown and two other men in Cassia Park last Monday. His white BMW motor car was found in the same community last Wednesday, but there has been no word on his whereabouts.

Thomas’s brother, Everton, told the Jamaica Observer yesterday that the family had become frustrated with the support they have been receiving from the police and decided to do a physical search for him.

The group, which numbered about 20, distributed fliers and walked through the community seeking answers. Unfortunately, this bore no fruit.

“It has now been eight days and we haven’t got a clue as everything is sketchy right now about his disappearance. We know that from reports on the ground that he was seen walking through this area where we are today with other people, and there was a heated argument between a cousin of mine and some of the guys who he was walking with, and that is all we know. He disappeared in this area and his car was found just around the corner. We are here because we are not sure we are getting enough information to find our brother. We just want to know, we just want some answers.

“… I find some discrepancies in terms of the communication with the police. We went to Spanish Town on Thursday last because I was told that bodies were found, and we went there and there were no bodies; the police in Spanish Town didn’t even know he was missing either, and I filed a missing person report on Wednesday afternoon. I am wondering how long it takes to disseminate information throughout their network to the country. I was told this (yesterday) morning that I should call the Hopeview Police Station because a body was found there, [however] the description of my brother was given to the police and the Hopeview police are part of a network. With all the technology we have, we can’t communicate effectively to have information throughout the island without I have to be putting my number up on a screen so people can call me,” Everton Thomas told the Observer.

He noted that hoaxes and false statements on social media have only made the situation worse for his family.

“I am not here to cause any trouble, but I am really here mourning and I am not even sure if I need to be mourning. It is 11 kids that my mother have and everybody is mourning right now or feeling some way out of place. My mother is weeping and she has broken down so many times. I am seeing on the news and on social media that people do have information, but they should just give it to the police. If you are going to tell me you know what happen, go to the police. Don’t just go and speak about somebody you know nothing about.”

He is, however, hopeful that his brother will be found alive, but understands that the situation could take a turn for the worse.

“I am a very optimistic person and I am a very realistic person and I look at the situation that I am faced with right now. Knowing what is happening in the country and the level of crime in the country, I have to think in my mind that Nick may be dead… [but] I have not given up hope on my brother. When I see a body or if something comes to me to confirm then I will accept that, but at this point in time I will not accept as I can’t see the unseen,” Thomas added.

  1. I personally do not know nick but i woke up this morning and couldn’t stop crying for him. I read the reports and browse his sisters page about her sleepless nights o can feel the desperation the pain the hurt. I have a son and i just can’t imagine not knowing where he is under the circumstances. If you know where nick is call the police. Dead or alive please give them closure. This is such a sad situation. When I go to parties and see him he is so pleasant and based on what others are saying he is hardworking and humble. I personally think they are both dead but please give up the bodies for a proper burial. Criminals have a little heart you killed them go and throw their bodies somewhere that it can be found. Jesus I pray for deliverance and some for of comfort for the family and friends amen.

  2. The Jamaican government meck di criminals control the implementation of its laws and punishment. Even if we have to buy information from our citizens and residents, we as a people should invest in good policing. We need to investigate officers, restore the country’s trust, and make the prisons more secure. One little island not bigger than Florida and y’all don’t have any information on this young man? This is an example of poor governing, and mass corruption among government officials and the criminals. Jamaica produces scholars in ever career, we are blessed, highly favored and gifted people. I just can’t comprehend why we would want to live in violence and kill our future leaders or creators of leaders

  3. Why are we allowing the vanity fair to ruin our uniquely beautiful cloture? Look at Jamaicas topography, we should be living in paradise, and mot trying to live out hollywoods productions. How were we bought into this delusion illusion? I’m certain the white boys are redesigning our DNA

  4. Police y’all go find the people’s loved ones.. If its corruption and thievery y’all would know what to do. I mean, y’all don’t have a bloodhound to help search for the young men? What a disgrace jamaica has become

  5. i think them kidnap this boy and leave his car in kingston as a trail throw off..one week and nothing from him, start search rivers, dumpsters, gullies and out side a kingston if possible, smh

  8. Its a sad feeling when a love one is missing I know, so I really feel their pain, I really hope they find them alive, who corrupt like Jamaica police system, dem all mite get pay to keep quiet if they know something…it’s so sad…such a humble youth from working with him on my wedding day….AM STILL PRAYING IN JESUS NAME…

  9. I know how it feel to have a missing family member if you never been through it you wouldnt understand the pain and anguish these family facing right now.. Unfortunately we found my family dead! Kidnap and killed! Something you would never get over but woth tome you learn how to cope

  10. It must be a gut – wrenching feeling to know that your loved one is missing for at least 1 week now, and you don’t know where he/she is. In Jamaica 2015, it’s a high probability that the person missing is dead. Tragic outcome, but let’s keep it real. I wish this is not the case, though. Prayers for the family.

  11. so what does the cousin have to say?????? he was the last person with him. Is the cousin missing too??? And the person who gave the info that here was an argument….who was the argument with? description? If people are saying they don’t trust the police, how about try the JDF, at least we can trust them.

  12. Jamaican ppl r so illeterate they r ways in which u can pass on information to the Police.Nobody is saying u must go to a Police in person an give information U have 119 and 311 u can call an give imformation without giving ur name.

  13. We all Try to bash Police in Everything and when time of trouble a them we have to depend on.What if they where no Police. The only ting can solve Jamaica Crime a fi Police kill some a these Criminal cause when them go jail them get phone an call them friends to kill other ppl an even come bk a Road An committed the same crime.

    1. I agree with everything you said Kim. The thing I notice is people need to let the friends and family know where they are going and with whom, especially when you have problems with other people or you are suspicious of certain things.

There are many people in Jamaica who are missing for years and the crime is no solve. There is something very strange about this missing person/persons. If “they” were killed, why wouldn’t the killers want the body to be found?

  14. Heineken the same thing came to my mind and I hope it is the case.
Him obviously living ok with a good rep so would he have a reason to? Dem need fi check Bahamas for sightings just in case he decide to run when pon banana boat, that would be better than death. How the family organise a search and the police and general public no help? If the police did if find drugs if thief dem woulda find it.
I doubt flyers help dem need professional who can spot things
If they found the car was it locked? Parked properly ? So the other guys missing too? Clothes missing? Seems like the public not getting the full story. What about this Voicenote dem seh was received bcus ppl on IG close to him talking about a VN

  15. Apparently his fam set this up. Someone from foreign flew down to JA to have him killed and flew back. This is speculation from someone else… Drugs are suppose to be involved. I want to know foreign where? Canada? I know he has a lot of Canada dance pics on his site. The Canadian dancehall scene is filled with men who are questionable. Anyway….I would love to know wa gwan. Things are not adding up. I doubt he is alive. So let me just say Rest Easy Nick!! God doesn’t sleep!
