OBSERVER ISSUES APOLOGY TO ALEXANDER WILLIAMS

WILLIAMS
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Jamaica Observer unreservedly apologizes to Senator Alexander Williams, the Opposition Spokesman on Justice and Justice Reform, for any damage, hurt, inconvenience or loss experienced or suffered by him as a result of the editorial titled “Are the Williams Brothers Teaming up Against the DPP” published in the Daily Observer on Thursday 6th November 2014 and online at www.jamaicaobserver.com.
We are satisfied that there is no evidence of Senator Williams conspiring or colluding with anyone, including Mr. Terrence Williams, to undermine the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
We also accept that Senator Williams, as Opposition Spokesman on Justice and Justice Reform will, from time to time, comment on and make recommendations concerning INDECOM, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, and any other agencies charged with the responsibility of delivering justice, and that his views in relation to the current matters concerning INDECOM and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions are his independent views.
We accept that Senator Williams, at no time, has made any recommendations whatsoever that would restrict the power of the DPP, but simply recommendations for guidelines to suggest how that office should work with investigative agencies of government.
We are also satisfied that in relation to these issues, Senator Williams has acted properly in discharging his responsibility as Opposition Spokesman on Justice and Justice Reform.
