NO BAIL FOR WOMAN CHARGED IN CANADIAN COUPLE’S MURDER

St. Thomas woman charged with murder of Jamaican-Canadian couple, denied bail

The St. Thomas woman who was charged along with her boyfriend for the double murder of the Jamaican-Canadian couple in Retreat, St. Thomas in January was denied bail when the matter came up for mention in the St. Thomas Parish Court on Thursday.

Ms Thompson and her boyfriend, Fabian Skervin, are both charged with two counts of murder and robbery with aggravation.

In applying for bail on Thursday, her attorney, Hensley Williams, said there was no evidence linking his client to the murder of 81 year old Melbourne Flake and his 70 year old wife, Etta, who were found dead in their vacation home.

However, presiding judge Luciano Jackson denied bail after it was revealed that Ms Thompson was on another murder charge which was still before the court.

At the last mentioned date on March 12, the judge insisted that a DNA analysis be completed and presented to the court before she make any consideration for a bail application.

The DNA analysis is still outstanding.

Skervin was also remanded.

Both Thompson and Skervin are set to return to court on May 4
