Mount Salem police station still open despite order to close

Despite an order from the St. James Public Health Services that it be closed, the Mount Salem police station remains open.
The station was ordered closed last week Friday due to poor structural and unhygienic conditions.
When RJR News visited the station Tuesday morning, the closure notice was visible, however, police officers and members of the public were seen inside the building.
Assistant Superintendent Dahlia Garrick, head of the Jamaica Constabulary Force Corporate Communications Unit, said remedial works are underway at the station.
She said the repairs will continue for at least another three weeks, however, the station will remain open.
