MAN WHO SLAMMED INTO PEOPLE AT HEROES CIRCLE AND KILLED TWO PEOPLE WAS FIRED UPON BY POLICE

Lawyers representing the motorist whose car slammed into group of persons along Heroes Circle three weeks ago, leaving two dead, on Thursday claimed he was being shot at by the police when he lost control of the vehicle.

The claim was made via defence attorney Christopher Townsend during a bail hearing for the accused, 37 year-old Tamone Wright, before the St. Andrew Parish Court.

Mr. Townsend argued that his client was driving in the vicinity of Heroes Circle when he heard gunshots being him and lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into and injured several people, resulting in two deaths.

“The gunshots continued and he looked behind him and he saw a motor vehicle driving behind him and, of course, he tried to escape because…he felt his life was under threat, and he made his way further down into downtown Kingston where he abandoned the vehicle,” the attorney outlined.

Mr. Townsend said his client was not aware who was firing at him until he surrendered to the police.

“The police are saying that they were pursuing him, so when you put it together, it does sound as if it might have been the police that was firing at him; that according to them, they had signalled him to stop… and he did not,” said Mr. Townsend.

Mr. Wright was offered bail in the sum of $600,000 on two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.

He is scheduled to return to court on November 29.

  1. So somebody don’t see you signal them to stop so you drive them down firing at them. SMH. Good morning Met and Metters.

  2. Sad for the people that were injured and who lost their lives, I would hope he had insurance. I don’t think he is going to get much prison time for that.
