A Manchester man, who was implicated in the October 2016 robbery at the Newell People’s Cooperative Bank in St. Elizabeth in which a security guard was killed, was yesterday sentenced to 15 years behind bars.
Daniel Johnson, 23, who was charged with murder and robbery with aggravation, pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.
The court was told that Johnson and other men held up the P.C. Bank and stole $229 thousand.
During a struggle with one of the robbers, security guard Chadrick Dennis was stabbed in the chest and back.
He later died.
Johnson was picked up by the police and charged with murder and robbery with aggravation.
On March 9 he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
He was sentenced to 10 years hard labour on the charge of manslaughter and 15 years for robbery with aggravation.
The sentences are to run concurrently
