A St Thomas taxi operator, who was convicted of s*xually assaulting an eleven-year-old girl he was entrusted to take to school, has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.
The sentence was handed down on Friday in the Home Circuit Court against Delton Smikle.
Smikle was sentenced to 20 years for forcible abduction and 15 years with having s*x with a minor.
Prosecutors led evidence that, on November 28, 2012, Smikle, who was hired to take the child and her older sister to school, took the eleven year to his home where he had s*x with her.
He was charged after the matter was reported to the police.
Now if only this taxi man could end up in an accident with a shank to the abdomen in prison. ..that would be restorative justice!
35 years? This should have been a life sentence.
