MAN ARRESTED IN DENHAM TOWN AFTER TRYING TO ENTER A ZONE WITH ANOTHER PERSON’S ID

A man who attempted to enter the Zone of Special Operations in Denham Town, West Kingston with false identification, was charged on Friday.

This is the first arrest since the Zone took effect in the community on Tuesday.

“He presented an identification card and when they made checks, they recognised that image on the identification card was not him, so after further questioning and further investigation…he was charged for the offence and placed before the court, where he plead guilty,” said Superintendent Stephanie Lindsday, head of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communications Unit.

She warned that persons need to be in possession of valid identification when entering and leaving the Zone.

“Where they are not in possession of valid identification, then they go to the checkpoints and they will go through a process,” she explained.

Meanwhile, there were more operations in the Denham Town Zone of Special Operations on Friday. The operations are in search of wanted men, contraband and guns, Superintendent Lindsay revealed.
