Teenage suspect scheduled to appear in court

A 15 year old boy the police say is a suspect in numerous shootings in Kingston and who was already facing three criminal charges is to answer to another set of charges in court today.

The latest charges against the teenager are Shooting with Intent, Illegal Possession of a Firearm and Illegal Possession of Ammunition.

Investigators say they stem from an incident on the night of August 1, in which the teenager allegedly fired shots at a police team on patrol on Barry Street in downtown Kingston.

During the confrontation the teenager was shot and taken to hospital.He was later charged.

The police say the latest charges represent the third time the teen has been charged by the police.

He was charged twice in 2018, first with Unlawful Wounding then being Armed With An Offensive Weapon and Escaping Custody.

The police say he was reporting on condition of bail at the Central Police Station and a curfew order requiring him to be at home after 5 o’clock each afternoon had been imposed by the court.

The 15 year old boy is in custody at a juvenile remand centre pending his appearance in children’s court today.
