The police are reporting that the 18-year-old woman who was arrested and charged following last month’s deadly fire at a house on Boobie Drive in Olympic Gardens, Kingston 11 is to appear in the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court today.

Sanoya Clarke was charged with Cruelty to a Child.

Detectives are awaiting a ruling from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to determine if additional charges should be laid. Four children died in the fire that destroyed their home on Saturday, January 27.

A fifth child was treated and released. It was reported that the children were left in Miss Clarke’s care. She subsequently asked her 13-year-old sister to monitor them and went to a dance nearby

It is said that the fire started from a lit candle that was left in the room where the children were staying.
