JAMAICAN MAN SAYS HE WAS BEATEN IN THE BAHMAS BECAUSE HE IS GAY -_-

Jamaican beaten in The Bahamas plans to sue

A Jamaican man living in the United States is claiming that he was attacked by a group of persons during a concert at the Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival last Saturday.

Adrian Brown, 24, is alleging that he was targeted and beaten because he is gay.

In an interview with The Bahamas Tribune newspaper minutes after leaving a hospital where he was treated for a laceration to his head, the Jamaican said he wanted the persons who were involved in the fight to be charged with a hate crime.

He said he will be pursuing the case when he returns to the US and also plans to sue for medical bills as well as pain and suffering.

Mr. Brown, a Navy officer, said he was attacked by two men.

Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Stephen Dean said investigators are looking into the allegations.
