— A 36-year-old man on Friday shot his pregnant wife in the chest, killing her, police said.

Joi Nicole Spencer, 36, was seven months pregnant. She was later pronounced dead at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg hospital.

Kamion Kemarley Spencer was arrested hours after the shooting on a charge of manslaughter, according to St. Petersburg police.

Their newborn son was delivered and was reported to be in critical condition at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital.

The incident took place insider their home in the 4000 block of Trout Drive SE in Coquina Key. Police said Kamion Spencer himself called 911 to report the shooting at 10:40 a.m.

He was arrested at 6:26 p.m., according to jail records. He has no history of past arrests in this state, according to Florida records. But the arrest report said he is a potential flight risk because he has family in the Bahamas, Jamaica and the United Kingdom.

Police released no other details about the case.
