BRITISH WOMAN IN JAMAICA TO BUILD HER HOME AND GOES MISSING

A British beautician is missing feared murdered in Jamaica after travelling to the Caribbean island to build her dream home.

Karen Cleary, 44, from north London, disappeared from the Boscobel, St Mary’s area of the island on November 25 and has not been heard of since.

Now detectives on the island have arrested a labourer working on her home on suspicion of her murder and plan to search the property and dig the garden in the hunt for her body.

Karen’s partner Andy Kane flew to Jamaica on Saturday to look for her when she stopped calling home abruptly.

Distraught Mr Kane, 56, a sales manager, told MailOnline that he fears the search will not ‘end well’.

‘I am currently in Jamaica assisting the local police force as they search for my girlfriend who is missing from her home since Sunday November 25.

‘Today, Monday December 3, the police are planning to search her property in Boscobel, St Mary.

‘Basically with the help of the suspect being held they have identified a spot where they plan to dig in the garden.

‘By the end of today I believe we will at least know the outcome of the search.’

In a Facebook post Mr Kane added: ‘I have heard from the local police. They are holding a “prime suspect” in the case of Karen Cleary’s disappearance.

‘They will be searching the property and surrounding area with a canine team.

‘As much as I hate to admit it I do not believe this is going to end well. I sincerely hope I am proved wrong.’

Karen, a hairdresser and beautician, was born in Jamaica but has lived in Islington, north London, for almost 20 years.

She had travelled to Jamaica to build a dream home for herself and partner Andy to share.

Karen is alleged to have gone to visit Portmore, near the capital Kingston. But Mr Kane said he didn’t believe she had gone there ‘for one minute’.

He said: ‘This disappearance is totally out of character for her.

‘She would speak to her mother Valrie Williams and myself on at least a daily basis.

‘She is always very cautious where she went and who she messed with as she understands the dangers in Jamaica.

‘She would never go eight days without contacting her family and loved ones.’
