MAVADO’S SON REMANDED UNTIL NEXT WEEK

A 16-year-old son of dancehall entertainer, Mavado, who’s accused of murdering a man and directing that his victim be beheaded has been remanded in custody until next week.

The teenager appeared in the Corporate Area Criminal Court today.

His lawyer, Bert Samuels, says his client is to return to Court next week Wednesday when an application for bail, which began today, is to resume.

Mavado’s son is charged with the murder of Lorenzo Thomas. Also charged is his alleged accomplice, 23-year-old Andre Hinds. Both are charged with conspiracy to murder, arson, shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

Thomas was a resident of Cassava Piece in St Andrew.

Allegations are that Mavado’s son and Hinds visited Mr. Thomas’s home and murdered him.

A witness statement given to the Police has alleged that Mavado’s son commented – “memba di boss want him head” and directed Hinds to behead Thomas.

The statement further alleged that Hinds attempted to carry out the order but only managed to partially sever Thomas’s head.

Mr. Samuels says Mavado’s son is denying the allegations.
