This is 100% correct. I remember years ago, I witness a young Jamaican mother dressing her young 2-3 year old son just as you describe (plaited hair, ear-rings, hair shaved on the sides, etc.). I was amazed that a mother would dress her young son in such a manner. The mother was from the inner city of Kingston, living with a drug dealer in the US….both illegal in the US. Baby father was deported twice and mother is still illegal with no hope of getting legal.
