WEIR BACK PAN DI TRACK AGEN………BOUT PEOPLE NEVA APPRECIATE HIM

Olympic 200m bronze medalist Warren Weir has sought to dispel the notion that he has retired from the sport of track and field. After failing to advance from the first round of the men’s 200 metres at the London World Championships last summer, Weir had indicated he would be hanging up his national gear.

But speaking on Hitz 92 FM’s Girls Sports Club on Friday, Weir admitted that he spoke out of frustration but had a change of heart at the end of last season. “When you are trying to represent your country and you have been through aches and pain and people make it seems as if you weren’t needed in the first place, you then say why don’t I just do this for myself and my family?,” said Weir.

Eyebrows were raised this week when weir was announced as a member of Jamaica’s Commonwealth Games team but the Racers Track Club athlete insists he is ready for competition.

“I said to coach (Glen Mills) I want to run under a different name. I just want people to see me on the national team and don’t know (who it is). But I’m thankful to be listed on the team even though many people think I shouldn’t be there,” said Weir.
