Man Shot Dead At PNP Dance In Clarendon

The Clarendon police have launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly shot and killed a patron at a dance hosted by People’s National Party (PNP) candidate for northern Clarendon Horace Dalley in Crooked River last night.
The shooter reportedly fled the scene with the gun on a bike.
The dead man has been identified as Richard Perkins, 32, better known as ‘Stinger’, a labourer of McDonald district, Crooked River.
The police reported that at about 10:15 p.m. Perkins was among a group of patrons at a party in Crooked River square when a dispute developed between three men and himself.
During the dispute, it is alleged that Perkins brandished a firearm and a struggle ensued with the men.
One of the men disarmed Perkins and shot him once in the head. He died on the spot.
Police later found Perkins’ body along the roadway.
According to a police report, preliminary investigations revealed that Perkins was spotted with a gun earlier in the day when he allegedly fired a single shot.
Perkins had appeared in the Clarendon Circuit Court as recently as Monday in relation to a case of murder and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
He was reporting on condition of a bond at the Frankfield Police Station.
Several persons were also injured at a PNP mass rally in Portia Simpson Miller Square, St Andrew last night after shots rang out just moments before the Prime Minister addressed the huge crowd.
Tuesday night was the final night allowed for campaigning for both parties as the Electoral Commission of Jamaica has issued an advisory to cease campaigning activities at least 24 hours before the polls open on Thursday.
