LISA HANNA LAWYER SEH NO WRONG DOING

The attorneys representing St. Ann South Eastern Member of Parliament Lisa Hanna have dismissed the allegations against her and her office made in a report from the Office of the Contractor General (OCG) which was tabled in the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

Miss Hanna’s lawyers K.D. Knight and John Junor on Wednesday afternoon issued a statement on the matter.

Mr. Knight later told RJR News that having reviewed the report, they found no criminal culpability on the part of their client.

“Based on the conclusions and recommendations made by the OCG’s office, I have gone very carefully through those, line by line, word by word, and I see no criminal wrongdoing,” Knight said.

According to the Contractor General, he found there was conspiracy by the Office of the Member of Parliament, the St. Ann Municipal Corporation and several contractors to defraud the Government.

In June 2015, the Office of the Contractor General launched an investigation following the allegations of impropriety.

Now, Mr. Knight has suggested that it would be a “grand waste of time” for the police and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to comb through the OCG report to see if any wrong was committed.

Step aside

Meanwhile, Miss Hanna is being urged to step aside as MP following the tabling of the OCG report on the award of government contracts in her constituency.

The JLP affiliate group, Generation 2000 (G2K), has said the Contractor General’s report brings Miss Hanna’s political office, members of the constituency executive and herself into disrepute.

The report says the Director of Public Prosecutions should determine whether Ms. Hanna wilfully misconducted herself by acting fraudulently.

Generation 2000 said it believes that the case should also be referred to the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) for investigation.
