Man escapes fine after attacking ex-lover’s father with a stone

A man, who went to the home of the father of his ex-girlfriend and used a stone to hit the man in his face, after the man ran him off his premises with a machete, got off with a light sentence.
Damone Fuller was bound over to keep the peace for 12 months after Judge Pettigrew-Collins heard that the complainant had armed himself with a machete and had ordered Fuller off his premises.
The court heard that on November 28, the complainant returned to his Washington Boulevard home in St Andrew and found Fuller standing outside his door, which was open, and the key inside.
The complainant made certain enquires and was told by Fuller that he was there to collect something. The complainant then called his daughter to verify what he was told and then took up a machete and ordered Fuller off the premises.
Fuller reportedly told him that he was going for his machete and returned with the weapon and some stones which he flung at the complainant and hitting him in his face.
The injured complainant, who was treated at the Kingston Public Hospital, reported the matter and Fuller was arrested and charged with unlawful wounding.
Fuller, in his defence, told the court that his ex-girlfriend had given him the key to retrieve something from the house, but when he went there the complainant attacked him and “chuck” him several times and came after him with the machete, so he used a stone to hit him.
The judge, in handing down the sentence, admonished the complainant for his behaviour and told him that she understood the complainant’s behaviour and that he should not expect to be treated with respect if he approaches persons with violence.
