CRAWNY GYAL COMMENT CAUSES SERIOUS WOUNDING

A man and woman who were dragged before the court for injuring and wounding two girls in their heads, during a dispute which developed after one of the girls was called “crawny gal”, will be sentenced on April 28.


Monique Jones, 21, and her boyfriend, Romario Ancle, both of Riverside Drive, Kingston 6, both pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding and assault occasioning bodily harm, respectively, when they appeared in court last Thursday before Parish Judge Simone Wolfe Reece.

Jones admitted to stabbing the two girls in their head and one in her back while Ancle owned up to slapping one of the girls in her face and kicking the other in her head.

Following their guilty pleas the judge requested a social enquiry report and extended their bails for them to return to court.

The court heard that on February 18, one of the complainants was walking when Jones started “throwing words” at her and called her “crawny gal”. The complainant then went and told the other complainant ,who confronted Jones who shoved her. And a fight then ensued.

During the fight, Jones pulled a knife and stabbed both complainants while Ancle intervened and assaulted the girls.

The complainants later reported the matter and the two were arrested and charged.
