GOD COMMANDS THE OBEDIENCE OF FORCES-GOOD MORNING

GOD COMMANDS THE OBEDIENCE OF FORCES

But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!” (Mark 4:40 – 41)

The disciples were looking forward to a peaceful sail across the sea and Jesus was sleeping comfortably in His little corner. The meteorologist hadn’t predicted any kind of unfriendly weather and the water was just in good condition. But suddenly, as they continued on their journey to the other side, a nasty storm kicked in and it looked like they were going to perish at sea. The fishermen among them, like Peter, must have done the best they know how to do to calm the storm but all their experience and intelligence couldn’t give them a safe sail.

High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water.Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. (Mark 4 – NLT)

This journey to the other side was another journey in the school of faith for the disciples and the author and finisher of their faith, Jesus, who was also the teacher in this lesson, was sleeping at the back of the sinking boat. The Lord Jesus knew that faith was the sponsor and executor of the future and being the Author of faith, the Lord knew that it was not possible for the winds and the sea to harm Him. It was not possible for a boat made from materials that He created by the power of His words to sink and kill Him at sea. The Lord knew that the devil was a notice-seeking noise maker and he sure didn’t have the time to waste on His antics. But for the sake of the disciples, He rose from His peaceful sleep and commanded the waves to be still. This year, any time that your faith is threatened by a stubborn situation or circumstance the Lord will command the obedience of the forces behind such situations and they will be still so that you can move ahead in your journey to fulfill destiny.

Liberation thought: Be still and know that I am God.
